The Mbu Black will join its predecessor Mbu as the first and second ever USGA conforming golf balls produced by a black owned golf company. In partnership with the esteemed Charlie Sifford Scholarship Fund, Renegade is proud to introduce a unique product that pays tribute in many ways to the remarkable legacy of Dr. Charlie Sifford, a true trailblazer who played a
pivotal role in diversifying the game of golf.
The year 1961 holds significant historical importance for golf enthusiasts worldwide, as it marks the momentous achievement of Dr. Sifford receiving his "approved player" card, making him the first-ever black PGA Tour player. To honor this groundbreaking milestone, Renegade Golf has designed the first sleeve in each box to relic the history of ‘61” by thoughtfully replacing the traditional #1 ball plate, and the limited Sifford release will also proudly display the name "Sifford" on the side of the balls, celebrating his enduring legacy.
This collaboration between Renegade Golf and the Charlie Sifford Foundation is a perfect alignment of vision. Just like the Mbu series, which takes its name from the Nigerian word "Mbu" meaning "first of its kind," Dr. Sifford was indeed a pioneer in the golfing world, paving the way for future generations.
